This ones from Grandma B. She used to make it for her boys.....HWM loved it and in his sleep, still dreams of it. ;o) --okay, maybe not. But, he does love it.

Oat and Peanut Butter Cake

1 ½ Cups water
1 C rolled oats
½ C butter or margarine (1cube)
2 C sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ C all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon

In medium large saucepan, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in oats.

Add butter, cut in pieces, and sugar. Stir until butter melts. Add eggs and beat well.

Sift flour, and then sift into a bowl along with salt, soda and cinnamon. Stir to combine.

Add flour mixture to warm rolled oat mixture, a little at a time. Stir well.

Pour batter into a greased 9x13 baking pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.

While cake bakes, make topping:
1 C sugar
½ C water

Combine the above in a small saucepan. Bring to boil and boil for one minute. Let cool.

Add ¾ C peanut butter and stir in.

When cake is done, remove cake from oven. Spread topping over hot cake. Return cake to 350-degree oven and bake for another 10 minutes.

Serve cake from pan. Good, warm or cold. Cuts better when cool.

For an 8-inch pan, make a half recipe.

This is a 4-H recipe from long ago. A very nice, filling and sticky cake to come home to.
