Cross Country Season
RBoy is running with the cross country team this year. This is the first meet I've been able to attend and all I can say is, "Wow!" They run their hineys off. Plus, it was a huge meet. RB didn't run with the freshmen, who had a 2 mile course but instead ran with the sophomores on the 3 mile course. There were 365 kids in that race. Here's a quote from their homepage:
"On a blustery day at Eisenhower High School’s home cross country course 2600 athletes from 87 schools competed in the 15 races and then finished out the day with the Community Fun Run (which has taken on a carnival atmosphere over the last few years). The crowd that came to watch the races was huge, lining parts of the course 3 and 4 deep, and filling the bleachers to overflowing while cheering on their teams on the spectator friendly course."
I guess not too many courses are spectator friendly.
It rained for a couple hours in the morning.
Here are the 365 sophomore boys and girls. You may have to click on this picture to see it better. RBs team is on the far right in blue shirts and shorts. Only 2 team members can be on the front line.
And it begins.
Check out the photographer sitting at the base of the tree.
Their team shirts say, "No one said it would be easy, they just said it would be worth it." It was just amazing to see these kids run for 3 miles, up hills, around trees, over wet grass . .
then, make a DASH to the finish. Who has the gas to dash after running three miles? Wow!
